VCU - SANA

The original plant was installed in 2004 and is the only ABP Compliant composting plant in the region. The expansion, which will allow Sana to quadruple the amount of ABP waste they treat, comes as a result of tougher policing of the disposal of waste.

‘We chose the system initially because of its ability to meet the EU ABPR requirements, its small footprint and its potential for expansion.’ explained Sana’s owner Manuel Valenzuela, ‘We have not been disappointed with the system which has proven to be very reliable over the 3 years of operation. The VCU has shown itself to be very versatile in handling a variety of wastes’.

‘The decision to expand comes as a result of the increasing need for more processing capacity for ABP waste in the region. We had no hesitation in expanding the VCU as it provides a cost effective solution to handling our community’s waste’, Manuel added.

VCU Europa’s Spanish distributor Traco Iberia SL sees significant opportunities for the VCU as the Spanish market continues to grow. ‘We are now in a strong position to further develop the In Vessel Composting capacity required throughout Spain and have a further three projects which are nearing finalization’ said Andoni Lauret, Traco’s Managing Director. Peter Hallam, VCU Europa’s Project Development Manager commented ‘This is a natural progression, when a customer has a site which is permitted, and operating successfully, the waste streams will increase. This upgrade further proves the benefit of having a system that is truly modular and can be easily expanded.’ says Peter. ‘A major part of our success has come through our customers increasing their processing capacity.
