Turf Washer
The Turf Washer is an example of the bespoke nature of the Tong Peal washing range.
- The Turf Washer is a heavy duty 1500mm wide Spray Washer mounted in a common tank with wheels, drawbar and levelling jacks.
- The Washer has a flat bed infeed section with a twin ram hydraulic infeed cradle, manually operated to feed the roll of turf onto a fixed cradle over a Web.
- The roll then enters the washing compartment.
- This section is 4.8 metre long with a Top and Bottom Web with side guides to feed the turf through the Washer.
- The Top Web is lowered onto the turf to stop lifting and give an even feed and wash.
- Over this section is a full canopy.
- The turf passes out of the washing area into a Clean Rinse Section and then onto a Web with a squeeze roller to remove excess water.
- To the end of the Web is a roll up Conveyor with a sensor for rolling the turf.
- When the turf has been rolled, it is ejected onto a stand at the end of the Washer.
- All the Webs are electronically controlled, variable speed, the Conveyor is manual/auto.
- A roller is fitted to the infeed for removing the net from rolls.
- A knife cutting device is fitted to the infeed to cut the rolls to length.
- A Scraper Chain is fitted under the Webs for cleaning out solids and runs continuously when washing and runs on for one hour when the Washer is shut down.
- Solids are scraped into a Skip.

- Water in pumped to spray bars under the Bottom Web.
